Martin Midstream Mega Lubricants predecessor “Mega Lubricant, Inc” (“Mega”) was founded in 1984 and has focused on developing and supplying economical quality lubricants, as a blending and packaging plant located in the Houston area. Mega was acquired in June 2007 by Martin Operating Partnership, LP and was integrated into the Martin Companies public business segment operation. Subsequent to the acquisition Mega has expanded its blending and packaging capabilities in furtherance of being an integrated blender, packager, transporter and delivery provider centrally located to the Gulf of Mexico major Port operations. Through Martin’s various land transportation and marine transportation segment Mega Lubricants has established a vertical integrated operation which allows customers to achieve efficiencies in manufacturing and delivery of Marine and other lubricating products to their end use customers.
Mega’s facility has approximately 35,000 square feet of warehouse space and approximately 1,186,400 gallons of storage capacity at its Houston operations and 35,000 barrels located at Martin’s Galveston Pelican Island waterfront terminal. The Houston facility is accessible via rail or truck transport and is located in close proximity to major Interstate roadways and the upper Port of Houston ship channel. Mega has a highly flexible ability to adapt to increasing customer demand for blending, tank storage and warehouse requirements. As an integrated manufacturing and delivery business it also has high flexibility to respond to just in time requirements which may be required in the business arena.
Recently Mega added the ability to spot and offload up to 25 rail cars through a rail car terminal arrangement with Kinder Morgan at their Deerpark Rail Terminal Facility located approx 1.5 miles from the Mega facility
Currently Martin Mega has the capability of blending with blend kettles and tanks from 550 gallons to 50,000 gallons. There are currently 19 blenders with total capacity of 265,000 gallons. Martin Mega can drum 350 to 400 drums in an 8 hour shift and 40 to 50 – 275 gallon totes per shift.
